The first cultivation of olive trees in the world took place in Greece, specifically in Crete. According to research, oil is among the ten most beneficial foods for humans. The Olive Oil Production Museum of the Paraschakis family in Melidoni, Mylopotamos Municipality, has been housed in a modern olive oil production unit since 1991. In the model olive oil mill, the visitor has the opportunity to tour three different olive oil mills and learn about the timeless process of olive oil production from the pre-industrial era, with manual tools and with the help of animals to modern processing with centrifugal force.
