“””The army of Psiloritis”” in Livadia is organized by the Cultural Association of Apantachou Livadiots with the cooperation of local organizations. The purpose of the event is to highlight the massif of Psiloritis and the wider area through the ascent to the highest peak of Psiloritis, Timios Stavros (2456m).
The event includes hiking, the divine service and the pilgrimage to the chapel of the Holy Cross, gastronomy, as well as the customs of the region.
The ascent starts from the refuge on the plateau “”Lakkos tou Mygeros”” (1670m) where following the walking path “”Strata tou Psiloritis””, one reaches the top of Timios Stavros. The path is very well marked and paved with stone slabs for most of it. The route, 6 km long. lasts about 2-3 hours.”
