The Church of Saint John the Forerunner in Margarites is located in the center of the settlement. It belongs to the architectural type of the single-room arched temple. Few of his frescoes survive and were uncovered under the lime during conservation work. The fragments of the frescoes are of particular interest, because they testify to the existence of a cycle of the life of Saint John and the Second Coming. The plasticity of the faces and the alternation of colors place the pictorial decoration of the church at the beginning of the 15th century.
