The Folklore Museum is housed in the same building as the Olive and Olive Museum. It is a two-story building, a typical example of the local folk architecture of the mid-19th century. The Folklore Museum was founded in 1995 and is housed on the upper floor of the building.
It is divided into two thematic sections, the first of which concerns the Cretan home, while the second concerns the objects of traditional occupations up to the middle of the 20th century.
The Olive and Oil Museum is housed on the ground floor of the building in which the “factory” (pre-industrial olive mill) of the owner of the building was located.
The visitor can learn about the process of olive cultivation and the collection of the olive fruit as well as get in touch with the equipment of a pre-industrial oil processing and extraction facility.
